caring for chickens

                                      FOOD
Chickens like to eat many things like watermelon, bread. Food humans eat. The human foods that chicken like to eat could be snacks for the chickens. The foods that would be good in the chickens feed or their actual food would be wheat and corn. YOU DO NOT give your chickens onion, garlic, chocolate, avocado, rhubarb, citrus fruit, or lawn mower clippings these stuff can become moldy quickly and moldy food can make chickens very sick. Make sure chickens scraps are not high in salt or fat.

                                                  shelter

Hens and roosters: a barn, or hen house and you might want to add a chicken run too. Chicks: a fenced area, a bin, a little barn. If it is your first time getting chickens then you can let them out whenever. If you already have chickens and you buy more chicks then I would say letting them out in 8 weeks. If the new chicks have moms or if you bred the chicks then It is up to the mom to decide when the chicks are out in yard.

                                                       PREDATORS

Chickens have many predators such as foxes, hawks, dogs, mink, weasel, opossums, raccoon, skunk, humans, badgers, coyotes, owl, bobcat, cat, snake, bear, fisher, mountain lion. If you stay outside your chickens will be safe from predators. A way to keep predators away is to kill the predator or set up or buy a trap and set it free or take it to a place for wild animals.
